The
final attendance for the 2010 North American
International Auto Show was 715,000 people.
That is up by 65,000 from last year's attendance
of about 650,000 people in 2009. About 5,000
journalists attended the auto show from 61
countries. In 2009, there was 5,500 reporters
from 48 countries. The 2010 show was significantly
better than last year with bigger displays,
more automakers and a brand-new electric avenue.
Attendees could see that the auto industry
was turning around by attending the show.

New Corktown exhibit opens at the Detroit
Historical Museum

McKay, Executive Director of the Greater Corktown
Development Corporation at the Detroit Historical
Museum. A new exhibit has opened at the museum
titled "Corktown Works!" It features
two rows of seats from the former Tiger Stadium,
a photo of the old Michigan Central Train
Depot, outfits worn by workers in the area,
and much more. The exhibit also features the
Workers Row House, which will serve as the
new museum for the Corktown area when it is
completed in about a year. |

COTS "Soup City" Fundraiser at The
Gem Theatre in Detroit -- Part Two

Jason Rzucidlo was LIVE at the COTS "Soup
City" fundraiser at The Gem Theatre in
Detroit on January 25. The Gem Theatre is
located at 333 Madison St. in Detroit. "Soup
City" was a fundraiser for the Coalition
on Temporary Shelter (COTS) in Detroit. About
20 local restaurants brought their specialties
for attendees to sample at the event. There
was three levels of food and three levels
of entertainment in the building. Local country/classic
rock band Driftwood performed on the main
level with Devin Scillian and the Arizona
Son band. The upper level featured entertainment
by ICON, The Sugar People and Dan "dasoulman"
Carter. The lower level featured Les Williams
and Shirli Simpson. |
