Sonic Youth with The Entrance Band

AmericaJR.com has teamed up with the Royal Oak Music Theatre to give you the chance to win a pair of tickets to see Sonic Youth and The Entrance Band at the Royal Oak Music Theatre. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 29, 2009. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. This is a perfect concert for all ages.

Sonic Youth is an American rock band formed in New York City in 1981. The current lineup consists of Thurston Moore (vocals and guitar), Kim Gordon (vocals, bass, guitar), Lee Ranaldo (vocals and guitar), Mark Ibold (bass) and Steve Shelley (drums).

In their early career, Sonic Youth was associated with the No Wave art and music scene in New York City. Part of the first wave of American noise rock groups, the band carried out their interpretation of the hardcore punk ethos throughout the evolving American underground that focused more on the DIY ethic of the genre rather than its specific sound. As a result, Sonic Youth was pivotal in the rise of the alternative rock movement.

The Entrance Band have arrived and here to stay. Residing in Los Angeles, singer and upside-down-guitarist-extraordinaire Guy Blakeslee has formed Entrance into a shockingly explosive power trio that merges the freakouts of the rock-underground with a universal melody and groove designed to reverse-brainwash the catatonic music industry into a new revolution. The addition of Paz Lenchantin on bass (A Perfect Circle, Zwan) and Derek W. James on drums leads Blakeslee's old and new material into terrain that knows no limits to scenes, styles, or sonics.
