Hat, Alberta's Terri Clark has had a long and successful career
that's consistently put her a cut above the common run of
contemporary country stars. She's always had an ear for funny,
sassy songs ("Girls Lie Too" is her latest U.S.
number one), combining them with intelligently chosen covers
-- with "Poor Poor Pitiful Me" she put Warren Zevon
on the top of the charts where he always belonged. Terri is
a CMA and ACM Female Vocalist of the Year award nominee, and
she's an eight-time winner of the Canadian Country Music Association's
Entertainer of the Year nod. In short, she's a performer of
the kind you almost never see in an intimate venue like The
Ark, alone on stage with just a guitar. Tonight's show is
an opportunity not to be missed!
Clark's
albums have accounted for more than twenty singles, including
six Number Ones. "If I Were You", "Poor Poor
Pitiful Me", "Emotional Girl" and "In
My Next Life" all topped the country charts in Canada,
"Girls Lie Too" reached Number One only in the U.S.,
and "You're Easy on the Eyes" was a Number One in
both countries.
Based
in Savannah, Georgia, where the Spanish moss hangs from ancient
oaks like long torn veils, Jefferson Ross employs his unique
acoustic guitar style and southern, soulful voice to spin
some of the finest story songs to come out of Deep Dixie in
a long while. His song craft has been compared to Guy Clark,
Townes Van Zandt,Rodney Crowell and Jesse Winchester. His
vocal style is fresh yet wizened by years on the road. For
over a quarter century, Ross honed his craft in Nashville
both as staff songwriter for companies like Curb Records,
a studio session player and as a road musician and background
singer for folks like CCMA Entertainer Of Year, Terri Clark.
