This film starts out with a shot of Joseph Gordon-Levitt (who plays Adam) as he is running in Seattle. Viewers will notice landmarks such as the Space Needle and the Green Lake park trail. Adam is dating Rachel (played by Bryce Dallas Howard), a girl who works at the museum. His best friend Kyle (played by Seth Rogen) is introduced as he is beeping the horn and waiting for Adam to get ready.

Both Adam and Kyle work as reporters for a Seattle Public Radio station at 87.9 FM. Meanwhile, Adam is diagnosed with a rare form of spinal cancer. So he goes online to research the tumor and finds out that he has a 50 percent chance of surviving the disease. Kyle said those are good odds in a casino and added that Lance Armstrong has beat cancer several times.

Kyle tries to help out Adam as much as he can. However, he is always thinking about going clubbing, meeting girls and having sex. Adam feels like Kyle is acting a little selfish during his time of need.

Adam decides to try chemotherapy to remove the cancer. Then, he decided to shave his head. Kyle initially thought it would be cool idea, but would not shave his best friend's head when he was given an electric razor.

Anna Kendrick (who plays a psychologist named Katie) meets Adam at the hospital. He went to see her to help him cope with the side effects of the chemo. Then, Adam breaks the news to his parents a few days later.

The movie is rated R for language throughout, sexual content and some drug use. It was directed by Jonathan Levine. Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Ken Karlin served as producers of the film. Except for a few shots of Seattle, 50/50 was filmed in Vancouver.

You'll have to see the film to find out if Adam ever gets rid of the cancer. Also, you'll be surprised to find out who he falls in love with in the very last few minutes of the movie.

I really enjoyed 50/50. I thought the entire cast did an amazing job. It was my first time seeing a film with Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Seth Rogen is just as funny as he always is. I thought it was brilliant for the filmmakers to find a way to make a serious topic like cancer into something that could make people laugh. Go see it!

OVERALL RATING: A
