ARBOR, Mich. -- For those anticipating another year of
independent film competition, the heads of the AAFF Board presented
a teaser compilation featuring a mere ten clips and trailers (alongside
one full short) of submissions to the 53rd Ann Arbor Film Festival.
being a water drop in representing over 40 programs of presentations
from March 24 to March 29, it felt as though the images and shots
unveiled were chosen to instill an immediate interest and anticipation
among staffers and supporters.
the samples were submissions by return entrants like Jennifer
Reeder and Yuri Ancarani, a captivating documentary trailer concerning
recent events, and a full animated short by Don Hertzfeldt titled
The World of Tomorrow. The latter is summed up by its
contact between distant generations presented through a stick
figure trademark both adorable and unsettling in its humor.
