Jason Lee plays David
Seville, the owner, manager and father of Alvin, Theodore and
Simon, who are Chipmunks. Also the Chipettes, a three-girl singing
group, comes along, as they were cruising to the International
Music Awards. In the beginning, they arrive on a cruise ship setting
sail for the high seas. As they run amuck on this ship, they get
into all kinds of trouble. David is constantly telling them to
behave.
Well as the Chipmunks
try their hand at hand gliding, no one can hold them down, and
the cord lets loose. As they land on a supposedly deserted island
in Sicily, they try to survive by building fires to stay warm,
eating whatever they can find and scouring the island for civilization.
As they encounter a
strange and deranged woman named Zoe, played by Jenny Slate, they
figure out that she is only using them to find treasure. After
a volcano erupts, she forces them to go down into a cave to capture
the gold she's be wanting for a long time.
This is a good movie
for young children as they will smile with delight at the antics
of these six chipmunks. The movie is directed by Mike Mitchell
and lasts one hour and 27 minutes.
Scenes for the film
were shot in Miami, Florida, Vancouver, Canada and in Oahu, Hawaii.
Justin Long is the
voice of Alvin, Matthew Gray Gubler as Simon, Jesse McCarthy as
Theodore and as the Chipettes, there is Amy Poehler as Eleanor,
Anna Faris as Jeanette and Christina Applegate as Brittany.
Their squeaky little
voices will get to you after a while, but if you want to get Chipmunked,
this is the movie for you.
