"Annapolis"
Genre: Drama
This movie is about
a guy (Jake) who lives across the river from the U.S.
Naval Academy and has always dreamed of going there. When he was
young,
his mother used to take him over there and they took a tour of the
facility.
Jake was working in a
factory with his father and his father
wanted him to join the Union. He wasn't happy working in the factory
and
decided to apply to the Academy. His father was not supportive of
his
decision and told him that he didn't listen to anybody so how are
you
going to listen to them.
Well the night before
his recruitment, he went
to the bar with his buddies. His buddies told him that, as a joke,
they
pooled some money and he should go talk to the prostitute sitting
at the
bar. He did and come to find out the next day, she wasn't a prostitute
but his commanding officer.
He went through the vigorous
basic training and come Christmas break came
home and decided he couldn't cut it and decided to quit the Academy.
He
asked his father to put in a good word at the factory since he wanted
to
come back. But that night he went to that same bar and saw his commanding
officer there. They danced and, at that point, decided to go back
since
he was interested in her and wanted to see her again. He decided
to try
out for the boxing match between the heavyweight cadets. They told
him he
was underweight so he ate junk food to put on weight. He finally
made it
and began practicing.
He told his father to
come watch the boxing match, and again he was
unsupportive and told him he was behind at the factory. But as the
boxing
match date came, his father was in the audience.
The outcome was surprising. He finally graduated and that was the
end of
the movie.
