Sunday, 23 December, 2012 7:07 PM Biggest Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant now open in downtown Detroit 1211 Randolph Street Detroit, MI 48226
|
DETROIT -- T. Michael Ansley, CEO of Diversified Restaurant Holdings Inc., opened up a new 20,000-square-foot restaurant in downtown Detroit. Buffalo Wild Wings had its grand opening on Sunday, Dec. 23 with much fanfare. There was a line formed outside for the 12 noon opening. The employees high-fived everyone as they walked in. The restaurant is located on Randolph Street between Gratiot and Monroe streets. It sits on the space once occupied by the old Temple of Odd Fellows building, which was built in 1872. The more than 400-seat restaurant is modern, up to date and fits in nicely at the foot of the Greektown district. This new location is considered to be the largest Buffalo Wild Wings in the United States. The new restaurant boasts 95 flat-screen TVs. There are two floors including an outdoor patio on the second floor with a beautiful view of Campus Martius. Detroit sports logos are everywhere on the brick and jerseys from your favorite Detroit teams and historical photos. Also on the second floor is a private banquet room. The third floor will soon become the new corporate headquarters for Diversified Restaurant Holdings when the staff are moved from its Southfield-based offices to here. The franchisee owns and operates 31 Buffalo Wild Wings eateries in Michigan and Florida. The menu begins with appetizers such as soft pretzels, nachos, chili con queso (with cheese) and mozzarella sticks and prices range from $4.49 for the chips and salsa to $9.89 for the slammers, which are bite size sandwiches with your choice of pulled pork, chicken tenders or sliced steak. I had the sampler appetizer, which included boneless wings with marinara sauce, onion rings, nachos and mozzarella sticks which cost $12.99. They also have salads starting at $9.79, wraps from $9.39 - $9.79, fish tacos, burgers and sandwiches which includes the "build your own" burger. Also on the menu was thin crust flat bread pizzas with a price of $8.89. Of course, at their several bar areas, they carry domestic and imported beers along with craft and specialty beers and cocktails. What a great place to stop in before a Lions game, a Tigers game or Red Wings game or just anytime. With its many employees, I received great service. It was fast and friendly. I would recommend you stop by and give it a try. Ansley already has plans to open a Bagger Dave's burger restaurant in the coming months.
