DETROIT -- We went to Coaches Corner for a quick burger on saturday night. It is located at 1465 Centre Street near the Detroit Opera House in downtown Detroit.

As we walked in, I noticed that the place was huge with two full bars on the main floor. Then I found out it had a basement with a full bar and an upstairs.

We ordered the third-pound hamburger with onion rings. You sure do get a lot of onion rings. The meal was extremely filling.

On the menu, it started with appetizers/starters. From a warm pita for 95 cents, onion rings $4, french fries $3 to Opa saganaki for $6.95. They offered sandwiches such as Coach's reuben for $8.95, patty melt for $6.95 among others.

There was pizza for one which was a Meditteranean Tuscan pizza topped with pepperoni, tomato and basil, for $6.95 along with a regular-sized pizza from $8.95 to $18.

The burgers start at $5.95 for a plain hamburger and boasted a Coach's burger which is topped with bacon, ham and American and Swiss cheeses.

The menu also had salads ranging from $5 to $9.95.

The bar had many beers, wine and liquor. I thought the place was nice and the waitresses were friendly and efficient. She stopped back several times to ask if we were ok. I think it would be a good place to stop before or after the ballgame.

Overall Rating: A
