Jo Dee Messina "Delicious
Surprise"
I had the
chance to meet Jo Dee Messina at this year's Downtown Hoedown. She
was the headliner on Friday night. She is a truly down-to-earth
person.
She
is very involved in the community. During the summer, Jo Dee made
appearances at the Special Olympics, Tony Danza show, CMA Music
Festival, raising money at the YWCA and raised money for St. Jude
Children's Research Hospital.
The
new album Delicious Surprise includes the hit song "My
Give a Damn's Busted." The title track is currently on the
radio and on CMT and GAC. The
CD comes with a fold-out poster of Jo Dee Messina. It's a perfect
addition for any fan.
Track
number two is called "Someone Else's Life." It's about
a girl being a waitress who works from 9 to 5. The song encourages
you to find a better job. Some of the lyrics: "She heard
the sky is full of stars in Buenos Aires. There Gonna Says She Crazy.
Maxin' Out Her Visa, Baby."
Song
number three is "Delicious Surprise," the title track.
It's a fun song about winning the lottery and being a movie star.
It's a ballad about believing. She talks about painting the White
House pink if she was President.
"Who's
Crying Now" is a song about a couple that's just broke up.
However, there was one thing that they could have changed and got
back together. Some of the lyrics: "Who's crying now. Knowing
it's too late. To get us back together. I'm finally free.
Back on my feet. It sure ain't me. Who's crying now."
My
favorite song on the album is track #8 "Life is Good."
It's a positive, uptempo type of song. It means a lot coming from
Jo Dee who won the battle of drinking. She managed to stop and turn
her life around. It's a song that you want to turn up!!
One
of the certified hits from this album is track six. "My Give
a Damn's Busted" is a song about when you've had enough and
your giving up on something or someone. We all have to make the
decision. Once you do, you feel better.
Jo
Dee Messina will be on tour in Michigan on September 12, 2005 at
the Allegan County Fair. On the cover of the album, you will see
Jo Dee eating a valentine candy heart that says "Delicious
Surprise."
I
love this album. It has lots of songs that are sure to become hits.
All of the tunes are easy to listen to. Jo Dee definitely hit a
home run with this one guys. Look for it in music stores everywhere!
