The movie opens with a shot of Julia-Louis Dreyfus (Eva) taking a massage table out of the trunk of her Toyota Prius. She’s a masseuse. Eva is a single mother with a daughter on the verge of going away to college.

Eva went to a party the following day and met Albert (played by James Gandolfini). He is also a single father with a daughter on the way to college. Albert invites Eva to a dinner date and then some yogurt afterward. The two hit it off immediately.

The two went on having several more dates and even had sex a couple of times. Eva introduced Albert to her daughter and he did the same with her. Albert bought Eva a necklace as a way of securing their relationship.

Meanwhile, Eva became friends with one of her clients named Marianne (played by Catherine Keener). Eva told Marianne about her new love while Marianne kept complaining about her ex-husband.

Later in the movie, Marianne’s ex-husband came over while Eva was visiting. It was Albert! He got really upset that Eva and Marianne were friends and wondered how long they knew each other. Eva was speechless and couldn’t answer him.

Now it was time for both girls to go off to college. We saw Eva and her ex-husband drop off her daughter at the airport. It was a very emotional moment for both of them. They kissed goodbye and she went up the escalator and that was the end of it. We did not see Albert’s daughter and her send off to college, but we can assume that it happened.

Do Eva and Albert ever get back together? I’m not going to tell you right now. You’ll have to see the film to find out for yourself.

Nicole Holofcener directed this new movie. She is best known for 2010’s “Please Give,” 2006’s “Friends with Money” and 2001’s “Lovely and Amazing.” It is rated PG-13 for crude and sexual content, comic violence, language and partial nudity. Scenes for this movie were shot in and around Los Angeles. It was an official selection at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival.

I really enjoyed “Enough Said.” Julia-Louis Dreyfus is one of my favorite actresses. She made the perfect comedic pair with James Gandolfini. This was one of the last films that he ever starred in because he died on June 19, 2013 in Rome. During the credits, there is a line that reads “For Jim.”

OVERALL RATING: A
