"Fantastic Four"
Jessica Alba.
Ioan Gruffudd. Action / Adventure.
Synopsis: Four
scientists survive a remarkable accident in space, only to find
that each of their molecular structures has been profoundly mutated.
Review: Bad.
I should warn you - I'm not a fan of the Fantastic Four.
I am,
however, a fan of Jessica Alba. So, this was a movie I would
have normally
passed over if they had cast someone like Drew Barrymore instead
of Alba.
Plus, I've never understood
the science - five scientists are struck by the same
space storm, yet each of them develops a different mutation.
Hmmm. If they all
turned into walking brick walls, I'd get it. But why did each
of them change so
differently?
There's a lot of action,
but for no apparent reason. There is a remarkable
bridge sequence in which The Thing and Mr. Fantastic save a fire
truck full of
firemen. But the firemen wouldn't have had to show up in the
first place if The
Thing hadn't disrupted traffic.
The movie moves along
quickly, but there isn't much here. There definitely
isn't enough to warrant the expenditure of $6.00 for a matinee.
