DETROIT -- As the U.S. Border Patrol scanned the strait that is The Detroit River, that pesky, never-say-die, 70's-00's mega-band Foreigner played before a packed-like-sardines crowd behind the GM Renaissance Center for the last "Rockin' on the Riverfront" concert of the scary summer of 2008 this past Friday.

Mick Jones, the only original member left on the band sang lead vocals on "Starrider," a song he wrote a long time ago that was on their first album as Jupiter shone brightly in the southern night sky over Canada. I shot some video of that song, too, and it should be available in a week or so on this page!

New lead singer Kelly Hansen sings all the mega-hits very well and it is hard to miss Lou Gramm when you are being rocked hard and your ears are ringing like the bells of Notre Dame. Jason Bonham played drums and out of respect for his old man, a few Led Zeppelin tunes were played, including "Kashmir."

In other words, if you were not there, you are so damn square! Just kidding, but really, it was a blast!

I sure hope GM still exists next summer so they can sponsor another "Rockin' on the Riverfront" series, so be sure to buy an old Vega or order a new Volt, okay?

I am going to have to take a hiatus from writing for AmericaJR.com so I can concentrate on beating Eric Smith in our duel for Macomb County Prosecuting Attorney, but I just had to go see Foreigner. I was Class of 1979 at Sterling Heights High School and they are part of my blood now, along with all the other great bands of the late 1970's and 1980's.

Foreigner ended their two-song encore with "Hot Blooded," by the way, which really rocks you out. They were very respectful of Detroit and it was a wonderful night that everyone who was there will never forget! Stay tuned for the video I shot of "Starrider" and "Cold as Ice." Click here for part one of the video. Click here for part two.

Trust me, I'm not playing any "Head Games!" And, if you live in Macomb County, go to MikeWrathell.com to learn more about why you should vote for me! I will protect animals from mean people, too!

Oh, one more thing, Foreigner has a new double album that is just out! No, you are not having "Double Vision!" It is called "No End In Sight: The Very Best of Foreigner." You can get it for $10.99 on Amazon, too! And don't forget to vote!
