DETROIT -- From the producers of Riverdance, comes "Heartbeat of Home." Directed by John McColgan, produced by Moya Doherty and choreographed by David Bolger and John Carey, this is one electrifying music and dance extravaganza.

World-class dancers from Ireland, USA, Australia, Britain, Canada, Italy, Mexico and Spain accompanied the music of traditional Ireland, Latin and Afro-Cuban. Many of the dancers began dancing at the ages of three, four, six and seven and won several dance championships.

First, John McColgan, director, came on stage to chat about how proud he was to visit Detroit and also mentioned that he visited the Motown Museum while in town. Then let the show begin.

There was a ten-piece band, divided on each side of the stage. This high-energy global beat features dancing inspired by the tango, salsa, hip-hop and of course, Irish dancing. It is a toe-stomping success, as far as I am concerned.

At the rear of the stage was a huge screen from floor to ceiling and as wide as the stage. One scene that I liked was the raging water with four-foot waves on the screen, the lightning on the stage with smoke billowing on the ground as the synchronized dancers danced to the raging waters. What a vibrant, heart-stopping moment.

Another scene that i enjoyed was the bird in flight on the screen. As the bird was flying through the air in the California dust-bowl desert with the mountains in the background, going through red rock formations, the music played softly.

The performance went on for one hour, with a 15-minute intermission, then went on for another hour.

I thoroughly enjoyed the performance and would definitely recommend it. Trust me, you will be totally entertained.

OVERALL RATING: A
