* 2007 Hoedown Review*
PHOTO BY MIKE WRATHELL / AMERICAJR.com Sarah and Diana also decided to try their luck, with Diana playing the bull. I guess Diana got to be the cowperson because she was the one with the chaps. Just kidding about that one.
PHOTO BY SHEILA FRANKLIN / AMERICAJR.com Then it
was Mikes (Wrathell) turn, and we gotta give him credit for
closeness, like in horseshoes.
PHOTO BY MIKE WRATHELL / AMERICAJR.com Cameron from Livonia and Harvey from Howell were close to the fountain in the Plaza and were also enjoying the music, the brews, and the free stuff. Nice hats, dudes.
PHOTO BY MIKE WRATHELL / AMERICAJR.com Finally, we met Robbie and his dad Mike (there are certainly a plethora of Mikes in Michigan,) who was one of the younger and incredibly polite devotees of the genre. Robbie is such a big Country fan that he wants to sing when he grows up. He gave us a sample and I think we should all keep an ear out for him in about 10 years.
PHOTO BY MIKE WRATHELL / AMERICAJR.com Overall,
a pleasant time was had by all, except for one thing. If you are
at Hart Plaza and have a couple of beers, you are gonna need at
least a couple of trips to the head. Be prepared to find some overflowing
units and some long lines where you can at least commiserate with
others who are about to wet their pants, too. Then again, you can
be like one woman we saw who paid an attendant $40.00 to use the
Mens Room. There is just no justice in the world when it comes
to urination.
* 2007 Hoedown Review* AMERICAJR.com AmericaJR.com's Jason Rzucidlo with new country artist Memarie.
The 25th Annual Downtown Hoedown was amazing! I especially enjoyed the new Greektown Stage in the lower bowl of Hart Plaza. It was more intimate and brought the stars closer to the fans. The River Stage was also a nice idea to give folks a chance to get up and walk over there. The first two days of the Hoedown were really warm with temps in the 70s. Friday and Saturday were also sunny and partly cloudy later on. We got a little bit of sprinkles on Saturday afternoon. Sunday was the coldest day with temps barely passing 60. Sunday evening was the coldest and windy too. I would like to personally thank Memarie, Danielle Peck, Dusty Drake and Carolina Rain for allowing me to interview them onsite at the Downtown Hoedown. I would also like to thank Bucky Covington for the meet and greet. Special thanks to the Gone Country booth for allowing us to hold a contest drawing there. I believe this was the most crowded Hoedown ever. On Friday, there was more people than ever before on Day One of the Hoedown. Saturday was so crowded that the entrance to the festival had to be closed. Sunday was busy too. I would say that over a million people came to the Hoedown over the weekend. I hope that everyone enjoyed the Hoedown. It was nice to meet the visitors of AmericaJR.com. I had the opportunity to meet one of our Omni hotel room winners, one of our CD giveaway winners and some other folks who printed the schedule and saw the pictures from our site. It's really nice to meet the people that you work hard for everyday. I would also like to thank the members of the AmericaJR.com Web Team that were on site at the Downtown Hoedown: Sheila Franklin, Mike Wrathell, Tamara Azrak, Gloria Rzucidlo and Jerome Rzucidlo. Great job! We hope you enjoyed our coverage of the 25th Annual Downtown Hoedown. Special thanks to our sponsors: Universal Music Group, Equity Music Group, Cupit Records, Midas Records, Steak and Ale Restaurant (Plymouth, MI), Careerbuilder.com, The Detroit Historical Museum and The Omni Detroit Hotel at River Place. See you next year at the 26th Annual Downtown Hoedown...

Return to the Downtown Hoedown section. Detroit's Downtown Hoedown is known as the World's Largest Free Country Concert. The event is held each year at Hart Plaza along Detroit's Beautiful Riverfront bordering Windsor, Ontario. It is a three-day event featuring music, dancing and fun for all ages. The music portion is filled with local bands, newcomers and established artists. BACK TO THE AMERICAJR ONLINE HOMEPAGE Copyright
