"Live Free or Die Hard"
Action
/ Adventure, Thriller and Sequel. Rated PG-13.
It's the story of John
McClane's life: the wrong guy at the wrong place at the wrong
time. And though he always had a very bad day, he is always able
to come out on top and save the day.
Reprising the role that made him an action hero and superstar
in 1988, Bruce Willis reprises his signature character for Independence
Day that gives us two choices: Live Free or Die Hard.
This time, the heroic NYPD detective finds himself divorced from
his wife Holly and estranged from daughter Lucy (Mary Elizabeth
Winstead). His assignment was supposed to be bringing Matt Farrell
(Justin Long), a computer hacker, into custody. But it turns out
it wasn't easy as McClane thought when terrorists set out to kill
the two of them in Matt's apartment. It is all part of an plan
by Thomas Gabriel (Timothy Olyphant), who leads an Internet-based
organization to shut down America through the computer systems.
But this case gets personal for McClane's daughter is kidnapped
by Gabriel. So, using those famous wits of his and Matt's genius
hacking skills, McClane must not only defend the Big Apple, but
also the red, white, and blue known as America. (Source: Wikipedia)
Though he had hits and misses in his career separating himself
from his popular character as well as the action genre, audience
will always love and remember Bruce Willis as John McClane. Like
others, John McClane is an reluctant hero who is blessed and cursed
with the ability to step up the plate and take on the bad guys;
he gets beat up and knocked down, but still gets back up and keep
going. Though flawed and anti-authority, he is an ordinary man
who does the extraordinary in order to make the wrong things right.
What makes John McClane different is that besides using his wits,
he also use his brains more than brawn in any dangerous situation
he is. Both Bruce Willis and Die Hard redefine the action genre
because John McClane is the action hero with both humor and heart.
So, Live Free or Die Hard for Independence Day, because
when the film hits theatres right now.
