First we went to Cobo
Hall to the trade show. There was radio stations, record comapnies
and schools where you can learn the trade.
There was also music
industry panels holding discussions in the meeting rooms of Cobo
Center. One of the panels that I dropped by to see was Radio: Behind
the Mic with guest speakers from 101.9 FM WDET.
In the basement of Cobo,
there was skateboarders. I also enjoyed the 4 pack of Jones Soda
which came in green apple flavor. I also picked up a copy of the
Metro Times as well as Spin magazine.
The best part was listening
to the bands. The places were crowded and filled with excitement.
The night was electric. Most of the people who attended these bands
were teenagers in the mid 20's but there was some adults, too.
The best artist was The
Cowcatchers. They played good music; a few old tunes and new ones
from their CD. They gave me a free copy of their latest CD to listen
to at home. You can check out their website here.
Fishbones was the best
venue due to more space, and the backdrop was the beautiful waterfall.
It is located within Detroit's Greektown area.
I had a great time going
from place to place listening to bands. I will definitely return
next year for the 2nd Annual Motor City Music Conference!!
