"Music and Lyrics"
Comedy and Musical.
Rated PG-13.
This is a story about
a has-been 80's pop star Alex Fletcher (Hugh Grant)
from a group called "Pop" who settles to play at county
fairs & carnivals.
He has a chance to make a comeback when Cora (a current pop star)
asks
him to write a duet but must be due by Friday. He freaks out due
to the
fact that he hasn't written a song in 10 years.
Then in comes Sophie
Fisher (Drew Barrymore) who is temporarily watering
his plants in his apartment. She sings while she does it. He notices
she has a way with words and asks her to help him collaborate and
write
this song. So they have this working relationship with his piano
for
days. They finally come up with a song and presents it to Cora and
she
loves it.
But at the last minute
Cora decides to change the music to an Indian theme
with Indian dancing. Alex is reluctant to say anything since he
might
lose his job with her.
On the night of the concert
at Madison Square Garden, something unexpected
happens between him and Cora and also with him and Sophie.
Hugh Grant really sings well and has some great moves. It's a sappy
chick
flick, if thats your style. I liked it.
