As you may have
guessed by now, some of us at AmericaJR dig our Chinese food.
We are finally revealing our favorite, the Oriental Buffet,
which features over 200 Chinese, Japanese, and American delights.

Set up along similar
lines of most buffets, Mike Wrathell and I head for
the
back
table first. It’s there that you will find sushi, cocktail
shrimp and
clams
on the half
shell on ice, and at least a dozen different sauces for dipping.

Head for the appetizer
table next. There is an always-full array of spring
and egg
rolls, crab Rangoon, meaty spareribs, fried shrimp, and teriyaki
chicken
on
a
stick, among other items. As an aside, someone once told us
that any food
is
good, if it is on a stick. Unfortunately, he was referring
to alligator.

There is soup and
salad in abundance which includes plenty of fruit,
veggies
and
all the trimmings, as well as seafood salad . There is also
lots of dim
sum
if you
are so inclined. Head next for the protein, which includes
crab legs,
salmon, a
fish o’ the day, pork roast you can serve yourself,
and even duck.
The usual traditional dishes abound, such as those with rice
and noodles,
but
the list also includes our favorite Shrimp with Lobster Sauce,
General
Tso’s
Chicken, and Orange Beef. Explore for yourself the remaining
175 dishes we
didn’t get to and remember that they have plenty of
items for kids, such
as
pizza,
fries, oniion rings, and the ever popular and overly fat-saturated
mac and
cheese.

There is a full
Mongolian Grill and a dessert table that includes ice cream
and various pastries under a poster, just in case you are
curious to know if they are actually authentic.

The personnel here
are amazing. Because I smoke, we sit in a back room and
generally manage to get the same table. Our server always
remembers us and
that we automatically receive a crab cracker and chopsticks,
and never
lets
our
water glasses reach half-empty. She is truly lovely and chats
with us at
each
visit, telling us about her upbringing in China and asking
us how we have
been.
Manager Audrey was delighted that we had decided to tell you
about the OB.
She apologized for one server who didn’t quite fathom
why we were taking
all
those pictures because she didn’t speak English well.
She apologized
later,
as
did we, for not speaking Chinese.

The OB is quite
reasonable pricewise. Depending on day of the week, an
adult
plate will cost you $6.69 for lunch, and $9.99 - $11.99 for
dinner. Kids
can
eat for
$3.95 up to $6.50 depending on age. The eatery also has an
extensive
entrée
menu or you can take-out the buffet by weight if you include
at least 3
items.
They also have a free party room and delivery with purchase
minimum, and
often
feature discount coupons in local publications.
About the only
thing we could find to complain about was never enough large
napkins for those of us that love crab legs and not being
able to eat more of the yummy fare. We give it a 5 egg roll
rating. Next time you are up for Chinese food, drop by “our”
table and give us a hello.
