HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

2007 Parade Calendar of Events

81st America’s Thanksgiving Parade® Scheduled for Thursday, November 22 at 9:30 a.m.

Hob Nobble Gobble®, co-sponsored by General Motors, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, One Detroit Center Office Tower and Chrysler, is scheduled for Wednesday, November 21. This is Detroit’s premier family event, at the Michigan State Fairgrounds from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. This black-tie event is an unforgettable night of enchantment and wonder featuring national caliber entertainment, fabulous food and a carnival midway of games and rides. All proceeds benefit The Parade Company and America’s Thanksgiving Parade®.

America’s Thanksgiving Parade® is one of the country’s oldest and most celebrated. Hundreds of thousands of parade-goers will be watching America’s Thanksgiving Parade® as it makes its way down Woodward Avenue. This year’s Parade will have crowd favorites and new surprises with more than 75 Parade units including floats, balloons, marching bands, clowns, specialty acts and The Parade Company’s own Distinguished Clown Corps.

The Parade steps-off at 9:30 a.m. on Woodward Avenue and Mack in downtown Detroit and ends at Woodward Avenue and Congress, Thursday, November 22, 2007. The Parade route will highlight some of the city’s architectural treasures, including the Fox Theatre, and some of downtown’s latest developments including Merchants Row, Compuware World Headquarters and Campus Martius Park.

The two-hour Parade will be featured on WDIV-TV Local 4 including a one-hour national broadcast reaching nearly 100 million households nationwide. NewsTalk 760 WJR will also broadcast live from the Parade. For more information on The Parade Company, visit www.theparade.org or call 313.923.7400.

25th Annual Turkey Trot, presented by Fifth Third Bank, will take place Thursday, November 22 at 7:30 a.m. The “tradition before the tradition” is Michigan’s largest 10K run and will include the 5th Annual 5K Stuffing Strut and 2nd Annual Mashed Potato Mile. Nearly 7,000 participants run the challenging city course – many in holiday costume – through downtown Detroit. To register for the Turkey Trot, Mashed Potato Mile or Stuffing Strut, click here.

Holidays On Parade takes place on Saturday, November 24, 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 25, 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at The Parade Company. Admission is $5.00 per person (ages 2 and under are free). Tickets for activities and food are $1.00 each. There’s fun for the whole family. Guests will be able to see up close and personal the larger-than-life floats featured in America’s Thanksgiving Parade®. Also making an appearance at the event will be the jolly ol’ elf himself—Santa Claus!
