DETROIT — Compuware and The Parade Company today announced it will team up to create a new technology-based float to be featured in the 85th America’s Thanksgiving Parade. The float, which will be unveiled during an outdoor ceremony on Nov. 7 in front of Compuware’s headquarters in downtown Detroit, will integrate a new web-based, mobile app and social media campaign, centered-around “iWishes” and social media technology characters called The Compuware Elves.

“The new float combines Compuware’s love of Detroit and our cutting-edge technology,” said Compuware Executive Chairman Peter Karmanos Jr. “We’re excited to bring 21st-Century tools like mobile apps and social media to a great tradition like the Thanksgiving Day parade.”

iWish4Detroit.com

Metro Detroiters and beyond are encouraged to visit iWish4Detroit.com now through November 24, to submit their good wishes for Detroit, their community and more. Participants have the option of displaying their name and hometown with their wish. Compuware has also developed a free “iWish” mobile web site that will allow users to submit wishes from their mobile devices.

On Thanksgiving morning, the “iWishes” will be featured on large screens displayed around the new Compuware float for the tens of thousands of spectators to see along Woodward Avenue, and during the two-hour WDIV-Local 4 broadcast and the one-hour nationally syndicated broadcast.

“Compuware’s new technology-based float will add a fun and interactive dimension to one of Detroit’s greatest traditions,” said Tony Michaels, president and CEO, The Parade Company. “Compuware has been a fantastic partner for many years and we’re thrilled that this new social media and iWish campaign will engage so many throughout our community this holiday season.”

Compuware Elves

The website, iWish4Detroit.com, will also introduce the community to the three Compuware Elves named Chip, Champ and Bloomer, that will be the main characters featured on the new float. The Compuware Elves, donning the historic papier-mâché Elf-faced Big Heads, will also make appearances at a number of high-profile sports, entertainment and family destinations around metro Detroit interacting with children and families for photos and gathering “iWishes” on their electronic tablets.

The elves can be followed on Twitter and Facebook at “CompuwareElves” where they will provide details on their upcoming appearances, their favorite “iWishes”, fun facts about Detroit and America’s Thanksgiving Parade®, and helpful technology and holiday tips. Followers will also have the chance to win cool Parade-themed giveaways from Parade grandstand seats to sweatshirts and apparel.
