DETROIT
– Compuware and The Parade Company unveiled the new
“iWish4Detroit” float to hundreds of Compuware and downtown
employees outside their headquarters in downtown Detroit earlier
today. The public ceremony featured Compuware Executive Chairman
Peter Karmanos Jr., Compuware CEO Bob Paul, The Parade Company President
& CEO Tony Michaels with Paul W. Smith from News/Talk 760 WJR
as Master of Ceremonies. The new technology-based float is designed
as an interactive “iWish4Detroit” Command Center for
the three Compuware Elves to operate during the 85th America’s
Thanksgiving Parade® on Thursday, November 24.
The Compuware Elves, donning the historic papier-mâché
Elf-faced Big Heads, will utilize the mock workroom float to share
the hundreds of “iWish4Detroit” tweets and messages
they gathered from metro Detroiters during this Parade season on
two giant LED screens placed 14-feet in the air for the tens of
thousands of Parade spectators to see along Woodward Avenue on Thanksgiving
morning.
“The new float combines Compuware’s love of Detroit
and our cutting-edge technology,” said Compuware Executive
Chairman Peter Karmanos Jr. “We’re excited to bring
21st-Century tools like mobile apps and social media to a great
tradition like the Thanksgiving Day parade.”
Metro Detroiters and beyond are encouraged to visit iWish4Detroit.com
now through November 24, to submit their good wishes for Detroit,
their community and more. Participants have the option of displaying
their name and hometown with their wish. Compuware has also developed
a free “iWish” mobile web site that will allow users
to submit wishes from their mobile devices. Visitors to the site
can also vote for their favorite “iWish” to help it
appear on Thanksgiving morning.
“Compuware’s new technology-based float will add a fun
and interactive dimension to one of Detroit’s greatest traditions,”
said Tony Michaels, president and CEO, The Parade Company. “Compuware
has been a fantastic partner for many years and we’re thrilled
that this new social media and iWish campaign will engage so many
throughout our community this holiday season.”
The website, iWish4Detroit.com, spotlights the three Compuware Elves
named Chip, Champ and Bloomer, who having been making appearance
around metro Detroit at a number of high-profile sports, entertainment
and family destinations around metro Detroit interacting with children
and families for photos and gathering “iWishes” on their
electronic tablets. Follow the elves on Twitter and Facebook at
