This is a story about an eight-year old boy who lives in Boston and got a teddy bear for Christmas in 1985. One thing he wished for is the ability for his teddy bear to talk and be his friend for life. Well, surprisingly, it did. As John Bennett (played by Mark Wahlberg) turned 35, his teddy bear was still at his side.

Seth MacFarlane, who created Family Guy, created this animated bear and also is the voice of Ted. This is a big-screen version of Family Guy, with, in this case, lots of pot smoking, crude humor, hookers and bad jokes. Even if you are not a fan of Family Guy, it is still hard to hate Ted. He is a likable and lifelike character with a big heart.

John works at dead-end job at Liberty Rental Car company and spends his free days smoking pot and watching TV. His girlfriend of four years, Lori (played by Mila Kunis), wants him to be a man and grow up, but he seems to choose teddy over her.

He tries his hardest to please both, but with his adolescent ways, teddy always comes out on top. She decides to break up with him. Joel McHale stars as Lori's boss, Rex, who always wanted to put the moves on her.

Additional stars in the movie include Giovanni Ribisi as Donny, Patrick Warburton as Guy, Matt Walsh as Thomas, Jessica Barth as Tami-Lynn, Aedin Minicks as Robert and musician Norah Jones who starred as herself. Patrick Stewart served as the narrator of the movie.

The nightclub scene was filmed at Venu in Boston. Other scenes were shot throughout downtown Boston.

Some parts were funny, but some of the crude humor and sexual content was a bit much for me.

The story was heartfelt at the end and brought a tear to my eye. You'll have to see the film to find out what happens. Even though it features a teddy bear, children are not allowed to see this movie because it is rated "R."

OVERALL RATING: C-
