Brant, Quinton Aaron and Sandra Bullock in The Blind
Side. |
The Blind Side
stars Quinton Aaron, known as Big Mike, who was a homeless African-American
boy living in the projects. His father left his mother when he
was little. She was an addict.
He lives at the gym
of the prep school and the janitor talks to the football coach
into letting him try his hands at football. Big Mike has no clue
how to play football.
The Touhy's, Leigh
Ann and Sean (played by Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw), see him
walking down a lonely road in a cold Memphis rain, turn the car
around and offer him a ride to their house. After learning he
is homeless, they offer for him to spend the night.
Realizing he has no
where to go, they enroll him into the prep school, a mostly white
upper-class school, and teach him how to play football. However,
his grades are so low, they are off the chart. The one area were
he excelled academically was personal protection.
The Touhy's hire a
tutor, Kathy Bates, to bring them up to par, he gets his driver's
license and they buy him a truck. But taking their son for a ride
in the truck, he gets into an accident with minor injuries.
Eventually his grades
pick up, he graduates and the offers come in to play college football.
He can't decide which college to go to, then he takes off roaming
the streets again. You have to see this picture to find out what
happens next.
The movie was shot
in Atlanta and Decatur, Georgia. It was distributed by Warner
Brothers. Sandra Bullock is nominated for a Golden Globe Award
for her performance in this film.
This movie will make
you laugh and cry. This is a true story that is inspirational,
endearing and totally entertaining. I would definitely recommend
this movie.
