"The Family Stone"
In this
film, we see many known stars, Dermot Mulroney, Diane Keaton, Sarah
Jessica Parker, Clair Danes, Rachel McAdams, Luke Wilson, and Craig
T. Nelson. This is a romantic family comedy that's sure to make
you laugh and cry all at once.
Everett
Stone (Dermot Mulroney) comes home for the holidays, bringing his
girlfriend, Meredith (Parker), with him. Neredith is a rich, city,
business girl who does not fit in with the Stone family.
When the
two of arrive, Meredith grows nervous. When meeting the Stone's,
Meredith realizes that she does not belong, but is willing to try
it anyways. The Stone's make it even more difficult for her to fit
in, as they pull jokes on her and talk to her with sarcasm.
Because
Everett's family make Meredith feel uncomfortable, she leaves the
Stone house and calls her sister, Julie (Danes), to stay with her
at the Inn. That is when the real trouble begins.
Meredith
sends Everett off to pick Julie up at the bus stop. Meanwhile she
tries once more to fit in, and once more she fails and is tortured
buy Everett's sister Amy (McAdams).
Later on
that night, conversation starts and Meredith makes a comment that
gets everyone's attention. As she tries to clarify what she had
said, she ends up making things worse and is jumped on by Everett's
father (Nelson). Meredith leaves anger stricken and is followed
by the only Stone who made her feel welcome, Everett's brother Ben
(Wilson).
In the end,
relationships are lost and new ones begin while new friendships
are found. Hearts are broken, and hearts are mended. This film is
very memorable. Definitely worth watching.
