Angelina
Jolie and Johnny Depp in Columbia Pictures' The Tourist
- 2011

This movie begins in
France where Frank Tupelo (played by Johnny Depp) a math teacher
from Wisconsin, is taking a train ride from Paris to Venice to
heal his heart from his wife who died.
Then appears Angelina
Jolie, who plays Elise Clifton-Ward, who is being followed by
the police in her every move. She is in love with Alexander Pearce,
whom the police suspect she will lead them to him. Alexander is
a worldwide wanted criminal who stole $2.3 billion dollars from
Bernard Shaw, a gangster, and he wants it back.
Elise becomes friendly
with Frank and takes him on a wild goose chase followed by gunfire,
in speedboats in Venice. No one knows what Alexander looks like
so the police assume that Frank is Alexander with lots of face
reconstruction. They run from the police on roofs of buildings,
in the streets and in the boats trying to keep one step ahead
of the police.
The Tourist
also stars Paul Bettany, Timothy Dalton, Steven Berkoff and Rufus
Sewell. It was released by Columbia Pictures. The movie was directed
and written by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck. Christopher McQuarrie
was a co-writer. Scenes were filmed in Paris and Treviso, Venice,
Italy.
Angelina is the typical
femme-fatale with gorgeous looks, fabulous outfits and an attitude
to match. The French countryside is a beautiful backdrop from
the train and Venice is magnificent. However the chemistry between
Depp and Jolie was non-existent.
