Josh Kovacs (Ben Stiller)
is the manager of The Tower, a luxury Central Park condominium
complex. He has secured the building for 10 years and nothing
goes unnoticed.
When he and his workers
discover they are all swindled out of their retirement investment
(sounds like ponzi scheme to me) by billionaire Arthur Shaw (Alan
Alda) who lives in the penthouse of The Tower, they plan their
revenge.
Kovacs and his staff
at The Tower turn to Slide (Eddie Murphy) whom they know is a
petty thief and has been in jail several times for his crimes,
is asked to help pull off the perfect crime. Even though they
are amateurs, Kovacs and crew know the building top to bottom.
Matthew Broderick plays
Mr. Fitzhugh, a resident of the building, who is broke because
he lost his money on Wall Street, and is facing eviction. Tea
Leoni, plays a female FBI agent and Gabourney Sidibe, from the
movie Precious, plays a Jamaican maid who can crack a
safe open in no time.
This movie was directed
by Brett Ratner. It was written by Ted Gaffin, Jeff Nathanson,
Adam Cooper, Bill Collage and Ted Griffin. Bill Carraro, Brian
Grazer, Karen Kehela Sherwood, Eddie Murphy and Kim Roth served
as producers of the film.
Tower Heist
actually takes place in Donald Trump's residence in New York City.
He has a nice pool on the roof of the building. Other scenes were
recorded at the Goldwater Memorial Hospital in NYC and the Toys
R Us in Times Square.
This film is fun and
has lots of comedic misadventures. I enjoyed it a lot.
