My husband and I went to try Woodward Avenue Brewers on a saturday night. This place is very unique. You have to walk up lots of stairs to get to the lounge area. We found a seat with no problem especially being that it was so crowded. Our wait was just a couple of minutes and our server was polite and friendly.

The brewery had two levels of seating and was dimly lit with a candle on each table. When our server brought the menu, I thought it was quite creative. It was two Michigan license plates where on the inside were pages of the menu.

We both ordered the standard loose burger which came with lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese, mayo on a kaiser roll; alongside was mustard, ketchup, crunchy potato chips and a pickle. Notice I said "loose" burger, therefore it was a tad messy. My husband cut his in half and ate it with a fork.

We also tried the homemade root beer which was excellent. It had a nice vanilla flavor to it.

The price range was from $3.50 appetizers to $7.95 to $9.50 for the rest of the menu. It included appetizers, salads, chili, pizzas, grinders, loose burgers, wraps, sandwiches, quesadillas, burritos and tacos.

They have seven varieties of award-winning beer. Also Michigan-made taps and beers from around the world, along with seasonal beers.

I thought it was an interesting and unique place. I would definitely recommend it. The food, drinks and atmosphere were terrific.

Woodward Avenue Brewers is located on Woodward Avenue just south of Nine Mile Road in Ferndale.
