AmericaJR.com’s Jason Rzucidlo recently visited the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. It is a 5,870-seat music venue located at Griffith Park. Designed by architect Samuel Tilden Norton, the theatre stage is modeled after a Greek temple. It was built in 1929, opening on September 29 of that year. The city of Los Angeles took control of the Greek Theatre after a contract with Nederlander expired on October 31, 2015. A $1.5-million renovation is underway at The Greek. Upgrades include a new plaza for picnics before shows at the Greek, the reinforcement of some of the seating, and updated dressing rooms and offices. In addition, the outdoor music venue will get a fresh coat of paint and new signage. Select scenes from the 2010 comedy “Get Him to the Greek” were filmed at The Greek Theatre.
