Holy Monday, Bat-fans! It’s Adam West’s birthday – and the return of FOX’s ‘Gotham’!

Since 1939, Batman has continued to rise and fall as either the brooding Caped Crusader/Dark Knight Detective or as the campy, comical Caped Crusader against crime.

Two weeks after Michael Keaton, the Bat-signal came up once more with not only the birthday of Adam West, but Gotham beginning its third season as the “Mad City” being filled with monsters, a city where “Heroes Will Fall”: heroes like ex-cop turned vigilante turned bounty hunter/future police commissioner James ‘Jim’ Gordon (Ben McKenzie).  And why do we fall?  So, that we can learn to pick ourselves up.  And that will be the case of young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz), the true son of Gotham, the prince of Gotham who will make the Wayne name a force for good by making himself into a force for good for the good people of Gotham: the spirit of vengeance, the symbol of justice against monsters such as the Penguin, the Riddler, the Scarecrow and the Joker, avenging and honoring the memory of his parents as the Batman … with Jim Gordon serving as one of his most closest, trusted, and loyal allies/friends in the superhero’s war against evil and corruption.

Born on September 19, 1928, Adam West joined ABC’s masks of justice as Batman.  From 1966 to 1968, the actor brought grade-A Adam West in the role of the masked deputy of the Gotham City police department alongside his loyal sidekick Robin (Burt Ward), his faithful butler Alfred, and Commissioner Gordon (Neil Hamilton).  West made a guest appearance on the New World Zorro television series with Duncan Regehr as the original caped crusader: the greatest – and luckiest – swordsman of all time (sorry, Bats!).  He lend his voice for Batman: The Animated Series as actor Simon Trent/the Gray Ghost, as well as recurring roles as Mayor Grange on WB’s The Batman and Mayor West on FOX’s Family Guy.  This fall, West will put back on the cape and cowl in the animated DVD adventure entitled Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders with Burt Ward returning as Robin, the Boy Wonder, and Julie Newmar purr-ing her way back into the purr-fect role of Catwoman.  The film will be released October 11 on Digital HD, followed by a Blu-Ray Combo Pack release on November 11.
