The 389-foot-long USS Detroit combat ship

AmericaJR’s Jason Rzucidlo was LIVE along the Detroit Riverfront to check out the new USS Detroit warship. The 389-foot-long combat ship cost nearly $400 million to build. It will be parked across from the GM Renaissance Center for about a week before heading off to its home port of San Diego. This is the sixth ship named USS Detroit and only the second to visit the Motor City. The last time a USS Detroit ship visited its namesake city was in 1813. Tours of the USS Detroit will be offered on Wednesday, Oct. 19th from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to line up across from the GM Wintergarden. Tickets for the commissioning ceremony on Oct. 22 are already sold out.
