  3. Abraham Lincoln. Years before his presidential run, Lincoln invented a system for lifting riverboats out of the water when they’d gotten stuck on sandbars.
  4. Choose one woman in the finale, only to change his mind and go back to his second choice in the “After the Final Rose” reunion. The couple is still together after getting married in 2010.
  5. Speed dating. He and his collaborators tried to patent the idea, but it had already become too popular just a year later.
