DETROIT — High winds and storms have caused massive power outages across metro Detroit. According to DTE Energy, 160,000 customers are without power as of 3 p.m. Friday.

Officials at DTE say they expect the number of outages to grow. They have called in extra crews to deal with the situation. Once winds slow down, they will be out to access the damage and repair the downed lines. Their main focus is safety first.

Residents should stay at least 20 feet away from any downed lines. Assume that it’s live and report it by calling DTE at 1-800-477-4747.
