New Details Coming Out About “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”

Quentin Tarentino's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood"

Quentin Tarantino was quoted as saying, “I will only make ten films.” He has finally released some information about his current project. This is his ninth feature film. Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio will be starring in the upcoming, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” which partly involves the Manson Family murders.

Al Pacino has reportedly joined the cast. Similar to “Pulp Fiction” with small stories making up a larger storyline this block-buster is expected to be released on the 50th anniversary of the Manson Family murders, around August of 2019. Pacino will reportedly play Marvin Shwarz, the agent of Leonardo DiCaprio’s aging former TV star.

Tarantino confirmed to the Rolco Sports & Entertainment Network at CinemaCon in Las Vegas that Margo Robbie was playing the role of actor Sharon Tate in the film.

Since April, a strong supporting cast has steadily joined the project. Also attached to the film are Damian Lewis, Dakota Fanning, Emile Hirsch, Tim Roth, Scooty McNairy and Michael Madsen. Lewis will play the late Hollywood star Steve McQueen in the film, while Fanning will star as the Manson follower, Lynette ‘Squeaky’ Fromme.

Kurt Russell, Zoe Bell and Burt Reynolds are reputed to be attached to the film. Reynolds is slated to play George Spahn, the elderly and blind rancher who allowed Manson and his followers to live on his ranch in commune.

Pitt worked with Tarantino on 2009’s “Inglorious Basterds,” and DiCaprio appeared in 2013’s “Django Unchained.” The two A-listers portray diminished Hollywood Western star Rick Dalton and his stunt double Cliff Booth. The film centers on the pair as they struggle to make their way in a cinema industry that has passed them by.

Tarantino said this about “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”, “It is a story that takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood. The two lead characters are Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), former star of a Western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor …..Sharon Tate.”

In the initial synopsis of the film, which is a short description of the plot, it is styled as being focused on the murder of actress Sharon Tate by Charles Manson’s followers. “The script is fluid,“ said Tarantino. He added that the film would not center on Manson but on the year 1969. He added, “It is very hush-hush and top secret.”

Tarantino said that he had been working on the screenplay for this film for a long time. “I’ve been working on this script for five years, as well as living in Los Angeles County most of my life, including in 1969, when I was 7 years old. I’m very excited to tell this story of an LA and a Hollywood that don’t exist anymore. And I couldn’t be happier about the dynamic teaming of DiCaprio and Pitt.”

Tarantino further added, “’Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ is probably the closest to “Pulp Fiction” that I have done.” “Pulp Fiction,” Tarantino’s 1994 classic, told an assortment of interconnected stories. It had some iconic motion picture moments.

Tarantino recently chose Sony as the distributor for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” Producers for the pic include Tarantino, David Heyman and Shannon McIntosh. Additionally, Tarantino has asked Ennio Morricone to compose music for the film. Cinematography is being done by Robert Richardson.
