Art & Apples Festival named One of the Top 10 Fine Art Festivals in the U.S. by America’s Premier Arts & Crafts Show Publication

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Paint Creek Center for the Arts (PCCA) is proud to announce Sunshine Artist Magazine has chosen the Art & Apples Festival, the largest annual fundraiser produced by and for the PCCA, as one of the nation’s Top 10 Fine Art & Design Festivals in the publication’s 26th Annual edition of  the 200 Best List of Shows in America.

Artists who participate in festivals across the country are asked to fill out a survey for each show in which they participate. Surveys include14 criteria to which artists assign a score from 1-10. Scores are tallied and winners are chosen based on highest average scores. Below are the 14 criteria:

  • Prestige of show
  • Attendance
  • Management
  • Judging and awards
  • Artist amenities
  • Artist treatment
  • Ease of parking and logistics
  • Balance of mediums
  • Quality of work
  • Sales
  • Advertising
  • Layout of festival
  • Load-in and Load-out
  • Weather

“Over the years, Sunshine Artist Magazine has consistently ranked Art & Apples as one of the nation’s top 50 fine art festivals, so it’s exciting for us to be in the top 10. Since the award is voted on by artists who showcase their work at the festival, it is even more gratifying,” said Elizabeth Chilton, Paint Creek Center for the Arts Executive Director. “As those who attend Art & Apples each year know, we work very hard to provide a wide variety of exceptional quality art so everyone is sure to find treasures in every category.”

The 2018 Art & Apples Festival takes place September 7, 8, and 9th in the Rochester Municipal Park. It will feature nearly 300 booths for jury-selected artists from across the nation to display their work for sale. New artists, and more than 200 returning artists, will showcase work in 18 mediums of fine art including: 2D and 3D Mixed Media, Ceramics, Digital Art, Drawing, Wearable and Non-Wearable Fiber, Leather, Glass, Printmaking, Non-Metal and Metal Jewelry, Metalsmithing, Painting, Photography, Sculpture and Woodworking. Art ranges in size from small collectibles and heirloom pieces, to giant sculptures perfect for showing indoors or out. 

Art, live entertainment, children’s activities, interesting foods, and of course apple treats such as apple cider, strudel, pies, caramel apples, and other creations make it a true Michigan event.
