ROYAL OAK, Mich. — Highlights of the music lineup for the 2018 Arts, Beats, and Eats festival were announced on Wednesday at the Royal Oak Taphouse on Washington Avenue.

Happening during the Labor Day weekend of August 31-September 3, each day will host to at least two nationally prominent artists, as revealed by festival co-founder Jon Witz. On hand to present samples of a hit song by each of the headliners was local group Your Generation in Concert, who are also slated during the weekend amongst many other artists.

Scheduled for the first day are the hit 1990s groups Gin Blossoms and Everclear, alongside .38 Special of “Hold on Loosely” fame. On Saturday, September 1, Motown/Philly legends the Spinners, 80s icon Eddie Money and Rival Sons.

Sunday, which Witz predicted “will be the busiest of the weekend,” is arguably also the most alternative thanks to scheduled sets from Ben Folds, AWOLNATION and Stone Clover. Labor Day (Monday, September 3) goes country with Matt Nathanson, Dylan Schneider, and Chris Janson.

All of these aforementioned artists will perform on the Michigan National Lottery Stage throughout the weekend, yet this stage will be only one of nine set up around Royal Oak. Each stage will feature a different lineup on each of the four days of Arts, Beats, and Eats. Other notable artists appearing that weekend include local 1960s group Frijid Pink, the Jill Jack Band, and the Orbitsuns.

Among the restaurants taking part this year are Eddie V’s Prime Seafood, Lockhart’s BBQ, and Café Muse. One new, notable partnership was unveiled by Hunter Boyd of Imperial Beverage, which will be the main craft brew provider this year and several years to come. Amongst the brands that will be offered by Imperial at 19 locations are Short’s, Lagunitas, and Old Nations. The big highlight of this announcement was that a beer garden will be organized along 6th Street and Washington Avenue.
