Hotel workers at Detroit's Westin Book Cadillac are on strike for higher wages.

AmericaJR’s Gloria and Jerome Rzucidlo were LIVE at Detroit’s Westin Book Cadillac Hotel. Here’s the story: On Sunday, October 7, housekeepers, servers, door attendants and cooks walked off the job and started a picket line for higher wages. Hotel workers at sister Marriott properties such as the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center make an additional $2 more for doing the exact same jobs. These 160 workers are represented by Detroit-based hospitality union Unite Here Local 24. Their contracts expired on June 30 and no agreement has been reached yet. The Westin Book Cadillac will remain open for business during contract negotiations. Marriott workers are also on strike in other cities such as San Francisco, Oakland, Boston among many others.

The Westin Book Cadillac Hotel is located at 1114 Washington Blvd, Detroit, MI 48226. To check the status of your reservation or special event, call (313) 442-1600.
