Javicia Leslie returns to Sundays next month – this time, on the CW as the new Batwoman.

A former regular of CBS’ God Friended Me, Leslie succeeds Ruby Rose as the Scarlet Knight: becoming the first black woman ever in the history of the Bat to wear the suit.

“Time to be powerful”, said Leslie’s Ryan Wilder, who is the antithesis to Rose’s Kate Kane, whose sudden disappearance left a major hole in not only her family and friends, but it also leaves the people of Gotham without Batwoman as their symbol of hope.  Enter Ryan Wilder, who not only decides to make a few adjustments on the suit, but she has her very own Batmobile.  Described as “likable, messy, a little goofy and untamed”, the out-and-out lesbian Ryan becomes trouble for Alice (Rachel Skarsten), who is up to something sinister, but realizes that the new Batwoman will be quite a handful.

Co-starring Camrus Johnson as Luke Fox, Meagan Tandy as Sophie Moore, Nicole Kang as Mary Hamilton and Dougray Scott as Commander Jacob Kane, the new Batwoman begins Sunday, January 17.
