CW’s “Supergirl” comes to a close after six super-seasons

"Supergirl" is ending its 6-year run on The CW.

The Girl of Steel is about to hang up her cape, as the CW announced that season six of Supergirl will be her last.

The series stars Melissa Benoist as Kara (Zor-El) Danvers, the cousin of Metropolis’ Clark Kent/Superman (Tyler Hoechlin).  As the Paragon of “Help, Hope, and Compassion For All”, Supergirl protects the people of National City from threats that includes Leviathan and Lex Luthor (Jon Cryer), who rewrote his own destiny as the hero he always considers himself to be while continuing his never-ending pursuit to rule the world.

Symbolizing “Stronger Together”, Supergirl first took flight on CBS back in the fall of 2015, but found a better home the next season on the CW, where she first became part of the Arrowverse: teaming up with Barry Allen/The Flash (Grant Gustin) to become “World’s Finest” in the spring of 2016 against Livewire (Brit Morgan) and Silver Banshee (Italia Ricci).

The final adventures of Supergirl will begin on the CW sometime in 2021.
