Apple:
The World's #1 Brand
Apple. A company that's
gained fame for its computers, software, the iPod and the iTunes
music store.
Did you know that Apple
Computer was named the #1 brand in the world? It was concluded after
a survey of 8,098 branding professionals on January 31, 2005.
Here's some background
information about the company:
Steve Jobs is the current
CEO of Apple Computer. He also co-founded the company back in 1976.
He also operates Pixar, the animation company that made Toy Story,
the movie.
The most recent operating
system for Apple Computers is Mac OS X also known as Panther. Apple
is going to release Tiger, an update version in the beginning of
2005. Mac OS X is based on UNIX code with industrial strength.
Apple has been manufacturing
their own computers from the start.
Apple gained fame for
its iMac, an all-in-one computer combining the monitor and the components
in one box. I currently own an Apple G4 tower at home. It gets its
name from the processor. Apple now has a new tower called the G5.
The processors inside Apple computers are G3, G4 or G5.
Apple has just released
the Mac mini, which is the lowest priced Mac ever starting at $499.
It’s only 6.5 inches wide and 2 inches tall. Apple has designed
a new laptop computer called the iBook.
Apple is currently
leading the digital music revolution.
The iPod is a one-of-a-kind
MP3 music player that you can get almost everywhere such as Target,
Wal-Mart and Best Buy. There are three different kinds of iPods:
the original, the mini and now the new shuffle starting at only
$99. Apple has lowered the price of their original and mini iPods.
Apple also operates
the iTunes music store where people can download music legally at
a price of only 99 cents per song. It’s out for Windows and
Mac users. Then, you can burn them onto a CD as many times as you
want. I found an advertisement for the iPod in the University of
Iowa newspaper, which goes to show that it’s being marketed
directly to college students.
As I stated before, Apple
is known as the #1 brand in the world. Number two is Google, followed
by the IKEA furniture store and Starbucks Coffee. The Arabic news
channel Al Jazeera comes in fifth place.
