DETROIT -- This holiday show is now playing at the Historical Gem Theatre through New Years Eve, after receiving the Best Holiday Show in 2007. The show includes many costume changes from the four cast members, three of which are from the Detroit area. The other is from Chicago. The main cast members are Janet Caine, Jennifer George Consiglio, Mark David Kaplan, Jason Richards and Kimberly Vanbiesbrouck. The actors performed musical spoofs of Christmas songs from many top Broadway Shows. For example, "I'm dreaming of a bright Broadway" from the musical "White Christmas". The "Sound of Music was "Sound of Christmas". Annie sang a song about getting a job in this recession "Tomorrow, Tomorrow". Celebrities such as Tony Bennett, Celine Dion, Liza Minnelli, Carol Channing, Ethel Merman, Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand also sang holiday favorites. Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons sang "Sherri Broadway," and "Walk like a Man, Sing like a Girl". Comedic parodies were performed from Broadway Shows such as Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Lion King, Mary Poppins, Wicked and Hairspray, just to name a few. If you like Broadway, this show is for you. However, you don't have to be a Broadway expert to recognize these tunes. This show is truly enjoyable.
