You
can see the College Park sign from Haggerty Rd.
College Park is a new
hotspot in the city of Livonia for college students, adults and
the like. It is located between Schoolcraft College and the Comerica
building on Haggerty Rd.
What is college park?
A fine collection of restaurants, businesses and one day office
buildings. It brought hundreds of new jobs into Livonia's economy
and proves to be around for a long time to come. Most of the people
who work in these places are college students, but not all. If you
ever drive by at night, you will notice all of the parking spots
are full in the front and in the back.
Let's give you an
overview of the restaurants in College Park:
The Claddagh, an irish
pub. The first of it's kind in the state of Michigan. A hotspot
for irish and american food. Their specialty is burgers, corned
beef, fish and chips and fine Irish beers. Read our review here.
Bravo! is an upscale
italian restaurant. They are equivalent to the Olive Garden or even
better. This is only their third location in the state of Michigan,
a perfect fit for College Park. Read our review here.
Mitchell's Fish Market
is a pricey seafood restaurant. They are even more than Red Lobster.
You can expect to spend about twenty dollars on a good piece of
seafood. They also offer valet parking and open the door when you
enter and exit the building.
Potbelly is a cool place
to hang out and have a bite to eat. It is located directly across
from the Fish Market. They specialize in subs similar to Quizno's
because they are toasted.
I like Potbelly for several
reasons. They have ice cream, shakes and malts. They have entertainment
on several days of the week. It's just a fine place to hang out,
do your homework and have a good time.
Cold Stone Creamery is
a new ice cream restaurant. They have like 20 flavors of ice cream,
ones that you would never expect to see such as "cake batter."
Then they will mix in ingredients such as oreos, mints or whatever
you want. They mix it right in front of you.
The Creamery can get
very loud inside. When I went there, it was about 70 degrees outside
so the line was out the door. The employees have to yell "Welcome
to Cold Stone" and sing a song every 15 minutes.
Next to the Creamery
is the new TalkWireless. Since many college students have a cell
phone or need one, this is the perfect place to go. They feature
cell phones from all the major companies: Verizon, Cingular, Nextel
and Sprint.
Panchero's is a new mexican
restaurant. They are different from Taco Bell and the others. This
place makes their dough in front of you. They take a round ball
of dough, put it on the grill and flatten it to the right size.
All of the vegetables
are cut fresh right in front of you. The meat is cooked on the grill,
not in a microwave. You only have three options when ordering: beef,
chicken or seafood for the entire menu.
Great Clips is located
on the far end of the building. It's a new place to get a haircut.
When they first opened, they had a special of $2.99 for the grand
opening. Then it went up to $4.99 and the current price is $11.00
for the haircut.
I spoke to them and they said they will be sending out coupons to
people who live in Livonia. Watch your mailbox!
There is office space
located behind all these businesses backing up to I-275. One day,
someone could lease the space and open for business in Livonia's
newest hotspot.
Haggerty Road is full
of fine restaurants. I call it "restaurant row." The ones
you will find in College Park are like no other. Most of them are
the first location in the state of Michigan. I would encourage you
to check out the new College Park and maybe even dine in one of
these fine restaurants.
It's truly a jewel in
the city of Livonia. College Park is located on the east side of
Haggerty Road between Schoolcraft College and the Comerica Building.
If you go by at nighttime, it's all lit up and it looks awesome!!
