Garden Court to Host Wine &
Cheese Event to Narrow Down Detroit's Design Superstar Contest
Marks Voters Last Chance to Cast Their Ballots for Detroit’s
Garden Court Condominiums, LLC is hosting a wine and cheese event
on Thursday, October 25, 2007 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. to narrow down
the 12 hopefuls of its “Detroit’s Design SuperStar”
competition. The event marks the last chance for any would-be voters
to cast their ballots. Garden Court Condominiums is located at 2900
E. Jefferson at Jos. Campau in Detroit.
“This event offers
the opportunity for metro Detroiters to judge the submitted designs
first-hand, while also getting a chance to see the ambiance of Garden
Court Condominiums,” said Christina Dibartolomeo, asset manager
for Garden Court. “There is not better way to make the right
choice in who should win than to take in all of the elements at

entries in the “Detroit’s Design Superstar Contest.”
The entrants ranged from first time designers to professional designers.
Designs varied from concepts that reflect the historic grandeur
of the property to those that seamlessly blend the historic with

concepts from aspiring artists hoping to design and furnish a two-bedroom,
two-bath or one-bedroom, one-bath floor plan within Detroit’s
Garden Court Condominiums will be narrowed down to three finalists
from each of the two respective floor plans by a panel of local
judges and online votes. Posted submissions were judged based on
creative use of materials and aesthetic outcome. Submissions are
available to view both in the Garden Court sales center and online
The three first-round
winners will be announced the week of Oct. 28, and one overall Grand
Prize winner will be announced and awarded the title of “Detroit’s
Design SuperStar” during the week of November 12.
The SuperStar will then have the opportunity to bring their vision
to life in an actual Garden Court unit. Garden Court LLC agrees
to contribute $10,000 to the winning design realization.
Grand Prize Winner will
receive $5,000; runner-up will receive $2,500; and four semi-finalists
will receive a $100 gift card to an area home decorating retailer.
The 65-unit, Albert Kahn
designed landmark structure at Garden Court, 2900 E. Jefferson Ave.
(at Jos. Campau) has been providing residents the perfect platform
for experiencing the best city offerings since 1915. All of the
apartment units have been converted to condominiums. Units are available
for sale. The building features beautifully landscaped grounds,
classic hardwood floors, 10-foot ceilings, wood-burning fireplaces,
detailed moldings and panoramic views of the river and cityscape.
The building was featured
on the popular television show ‘Martin’ and rumored
to have been constructed so that the son of Whiskey giant Hiram
Walker could view Detroit River traffic from his deceased father’s
distilleries in Canada during prohibition.
