Domino's Pizza Named One of Michigan's
'Cool Places to Work'
ANN ARBOR, Mich.
-- Domino's Pizza LLC's World Resource Center was once
again named one of Michigan's "Cool Places to Work" by
Crain's Detroit Business. Domino's initially received the designation
in 2005. The award will be presented on Oct. 4 at the Emagine Theater
and Lucky Strike Lanes.
The "Cool Places
to Work" competition was established to honor companies that
work with imagination and conviction to create organizational value
and business results through their programs, policies and practices
in human resource management.
Part of what makes Domino's
a "Cool Place to Work" is the friendly, fun environment
encouraged before new team members even walk through the door. A
Pizza Box Welcome Kit is delivered to new members' homes before
their first day. The box is stuffed with Domino's goodies, information
about the company and a warm welcoming message to show Domino's
excitement about the addition of new faces. Of course, it also includes
gift certificates for free pizza!
Domino's programs include:
- Domino's Days - designated
bonus days off to extend summer holiday
weekends so team members can spend more time with their families.
- Domino's Anniversary
Day - On December 9, Domino's anniversary, team
members celebrating five-year company milestones receive monetary
awards and are honored with a special breakfast with the CEO and
company's leadership team.
- The Domino's Pizza
Partners Foundation - completely funded by employee
and franchise contributions, the Foundation has contributed over
million in 21 years to help team members in need due to accidents,
illness, or other personal tragedies.
- Annual REPPY (Recognizing
Exceptional People) Awards - annual
recognition of exceptional team members nominated by their peers.
Recipients receive a trophy, personalized video and stock options.
- Domino's Pizza Prep
School - an intensive training program for office-
based employees, during which they learn how to run a Domino's
- The "Laff Staff"
- a volunteer group of Domino's employees who
coordinate special events, from organizing parties for 500 to
simple events like a visit from an ice cream vendor on a hot August
"We are excited
to be named one of Michigan's coolest places to work once again,"
said Patti Wilmot, executive vice president of PeopleFirst at Domino's
Pizza. "This recognition confirms that Domino's Pizza is dedicated
to putting people first, by promoting a fun, productive environment
where team members are recognized and appreciated for their contributions."
Selection was based both
on employee nominations and on numerical scores on a survey created
by Southfield-based American Society of Employers, a membership
organization that collects workplace data and offers training in
human resource issues. Points were awarded based on responses to
individual questions. Total survey scores were then derived by totaling
the weighted scores in eight categories.
