English rocker Eric Burdon and the Animals honored The Motor City on August 3rd with an awesome "Rockin' On The Riverfront" performance whose encore' even included the honking of a plethora of small boats anchored off shore on The Detroit River, itself.

Eric pointed his mike toward the boisterous crowd on a few occasions and the wild roars of tigerific Metro Detroiters electrified the night air and the ground literally shook to the beat of one of music's finest Hall of Fame acts.

"Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" underwent a slightly Reggae modification and was the first of many hits that hypnotized the diverse crowd. I hadn't seen so many bikers since I saw a large group meet at Kellogg Park in Plymouth to ride to Hell, Michigan.

The guy from Homeland Security who was staring all evening at The Strait, or in French, de Troit, at least had some rockin' tunes to keep boredom far away.

Mr. Burdon had a nice-looking redheaded lady playing right next to him. I saw her duck into the RenCen after the show, as the night air pulsated with hogs revving up for a night flight to Suburbia.

Hopefully, GM will once once again invite world-class acts to play next summer. Detroit loves its rock'n'roll, baby! And to you boat people who stayed to help with the encore', way to do it to it! Thank you, Mr. Burdon, thank you, you rockin' Animals! Hope to see you soon! You put the Rock in Rock!
