Mich. -- The 2013
Michigan Challenge Balloonfest--also known as the Howell Balloonfest--is
in its 29th year providing fun and entertainment for the whole
family. The event was held last weekend, June 28-30. The Wade
carnival was huge. Some of the rides were very interesting such
as the macaroni and cheese ride. There were a lot of the rides
I've never seen before. There was also a midway filled with test-your-luck
games in which you could win prizes.
talked to people who came from Connecticut and New York just to
see the launch today. In addition, I noticed people from all over
the metro Detroit area came here today.
was plenty of entertainment at the Balloonfest. There was the
walking human treeman which entertained the guests. There was
also an arts and crafts section and a huge food court serving
everything from barbecued food to wood fired pizza. Smoothies,
lemonade and plenty of water were also on hand.

slowly glided onto the x-marked field below.
6 p.m., people were settling down and getting ready for the launch
of the hot air balloons. The trucks arrived with the hot air balloon
baskets. Shortly after 6 p.m., they announced that the launch
would be delayed until 7:45 p.m. due to breezy conditions.
waited until 7:45 and at that time, they announced the launch
would be cancelled due to wind gusts which makes it unsafe to
fly. Oh no!! I was disappointed that I couldn't see the launch......but
there is always next year.
