EXCLUSIVE: Interview with Jack Ingram and Hunter Brucks at the Mayfly Music Festival (6/21/08) MPEG Video

DUNDEE, Mich. -- Nearly a thousand people were there to see Jack Ingram perform in Dundee at the 9th Annual Mayfly Music Festival. On Saturday, the crowd kept building as the day went on. Ingram performed at 9:30 p.m. and played until shortly after 11 p.m. He stayed after his show to sign autographs for everyone who wanted one.

The annual event also featured music by Fifty Amp Fuse, Whiskey Dunn, Hunter Brucks, The Unknown Legends and the Monroe County "Music City" Star Search finalists. The festival also included kids games, a kids inflatable, cane rides, pontoon rides, a rummage sale, commercial and community vendors, sponsor booths and a beer tent. There was a fireworks show on Friday night.

The Mayfly Music Festival began in 2000. Ty Cool and the Headliners played oldies music in its inaugural year. Since then, the festival has hosted some of the best new stars in country music. Ty Herndon performed there in 2001. David Lee Murphy was the main headliner the next year. Anita Cochran performed there in 2003. Jack Ingram continued that tradition this year.

Roger Barnes is a member of the Mayfly Music Festival committee.

"We started way back when with Ty Herndon," he said. "We had Keith Anderson, we've had some pretty good names here. I help them find who's up-and-coming. The weather was really bad at around 3 o'clock. We got a good crowd now. I think attendance is up a little bit."

Hunter Brucks was the opening act for Jack Ingram at the festival.

"I'm the producer, promoter and performer tonight," he said. "I wear a lot of hats. We had a great break in the weather. I've been involved in it for goin' on my fourth year. It's a great community, great town. The people are super here. They're definitely music lovers."

Brucks performed at 8:00 p.m. on the main stage at Wolverine Park. He entertained the crowd with lots of songs and many of them were off his new album, Motorcity Soul Meets Southern Rock & Roll. Then, Jack Ingram came on after at around 9:30 p.m.

"Yeah, it's gonna be fun," said Jack Ingram prior to his performance. "It's a little small town festival, it's gonna be great."

Ingram performed all of his hit songs for the crowd in Dundee. He performed for about an hour and a half. Ingram threw lots of guitar picks into the audience. Some of the songs he performed included "Wherever You Are", "Love You", a cover of Hinder's "Lips of an Angel", "Measure of a Man" and his latest song "Maybe She'll Get Lonely." Ingram's latest album is titled This Is It. He stayed later after his performance to sign autographs for everyone who wanted one.

"Get a dream and chase it and don't give up on it," he said.
