Motor
City Music Conference to Rock Detroit
The first-ever Motor
City Music Conference (MC2) will take place on April 20-24, 2005
across 45 different venues in Downtown Detroit with 450 different
bands. There will also be a tradeshow inside Cobo Center.
Detroit is a city with
lots of music in its history. You can remember the Motown Sound
as well as artists like Eminem, Kid Rock, Madonna, D12, Josh Gracin
and Uncle Kracker. It's one of the reasons why we got our Hard Rock
Cafe.
The Detroit Music Awards
kicks off all the fun. It will be held at the State Theatre on Wednesday,
April 20th at 8 p.m. Tickets are still available and can be purchased
here.
There will be 450 artists
performing across Detroit and Hamtramck. Half of them will be local
artists and half will be established artists. Almost every music
genre will be represented: Rock, Hip Hop, R&B/Soul, World Beat,
Electronic/Techno, Indie, Country and Blues.
Some of the established
artists that will be performing this year include Moby, The Black
Keys, Trail of the Dead, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Snoop Dog,
The Game, Proof from D12, The Detroit Cobras, The Dirt Bombs, Me
Without You, The Paybacks, Blanche, Paradime and the Dirty Americans.

industry panels discussions at Cobo Center. They will be held by
professionals such as artists, record label representatives, managers,
booking agents and program directors. There will also be workshops
for people interested in songwriting and music production.
A trade show will be
held in the Michigan room of the Cobo Center with over 100 exhibitors.
There will be local radio stations, record labels and vendors in
the music industry.
Jones Soda will be giving
away a bottle each day. They will be designed by rock artists from
Detroit. If you come each day, you can collect all four!
