Iron Chef' Cook-off at Detroit's Winter Blast

Three Top Chefs Will Compete and Donate Prizes to Their Charity
of Choice
AUBURN
HILLS, Mich. -- Chrysler Group brands Chrysler and Jeep
and Chrysler Financial will combine the best of two worlds - - food
and three of its top selling vehicles -- when it kicks off a "Motown
Iron Chef" competition between three restaurants at Detroit's
2007 Winter Blast on Feb. 9, at 11:45 a.m. Each chef will prepare
finger foods that fit the characteristics of a Chrysler Aspen, Jeep
Commander or Jeep Wrangler.
Chrysler
Financial will donate $5,000 to the winning restaurant's charity
of choice. The second prize is $500 donated to a restaurant's charity
of choice; third prize is $250 donated to a charity of choice. All
three prize donations will be made to food-related charities.
"Chrysler
and Jeep vehicles are designed to fit the lifestyles of people who
want function, style and value," said Nellie LaGarde, Manager
- Education Programs, Civic and Community Relations. "We think
it will be fun to see how far a restaurant will go when vehicles
become part of the description."
"Chrysler
Financial is looking forward to this fun event that highlights the
City of Detroit and its great food," said Brad Norman, Director
- Great Lakes Business Center for Chrysler Financial. "The
attributes of Chrysler and Jeep vehicles are very different and
it's going to be exciting to see what each restaurant will create,"
said Norman.
A panel
of judges will sample all of the food specialties and score each
item on taste/flavor, presentation, quality and creativity.
The
three participating restaurants and their assigned vehicles are:
Coach
Insignia, Executive Chef David Hubbard, Chrysler Aspen. Blending
performance and personality, the 2007 Chrysler Aspen promotes guilt-free
indulgence and features a lavish and roomy cabin, comfortable seating
for up to eight passengers, an electronic stability program that
helps to maintain control of the vehicle, a remote start system,
a choice of premium cloth or leather trimmed first and second row
seats and a 5.7L HEMI V8 with the fuel efficiency of a much smaller
and less powerful engine.
Seldom
Blues, Corporate Executive Concept Chef Jerry Nottage, Jeep Commander.
The Jeep brand's biggest idea yet, the 2007 Jeep Commander offers
matchless, authentic Jeep brand power with a 5.7L HEMI V8 engine
that helps consumers rule the road. Advanced driver and front-passenger
multistage air bags and side-curtain air bags come standard on Jeep
Commander. In addition, the Quadra-Drive II can transfer up to 100
percent of available torque to any wheel with traction, within a
fraction of a second.
Vicente's
Cuban Cuisine, Executive Chef Roberto Caceres, Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.
Like its predecessors, the Wrangler Unlimited is designed to keep
its wheels firmly planted on the ground, even when one or more may
be climbing an obstacle. The Wrangler has spent the last 60 years
as the only true convertible 4x4. Taking the top off makes life
a little more adventurous and lets consumers become one with the
elements. The Wrangler's interior is comfortable, is protected by
a safety cage made of high-strength alloy steel that surrounds and
helps protect occupants, and has a drain plug right in the floor
for easy wash out.
The Chrysler,
Jeep tent at Winter Blast will be located in the Campus Martius
Park area on Monroe Ave. The Winter Blast is free and open to the
public. Hours are: Friday, February 9, 11 a.m. - Midnight Saturday,
February 10, 10 a.m. - Midnight Sunday, February 11, 10 a.m. - 9
