New Ford Escape Hybrid Runs on Battery

At the 2004 Detroit Auto Show, Ford is displaying a hybrid version of their popular Escape sport utility vehicle.

This version runs on both gasoline and on battery power. They work hand in hand or they can run on their own as well. The battery for this engine will recharge when the vehicle is stopped or parked.

The battery is a 300-volt nickel-metal hydride battery. The Ford Escape Hybrid also has a gas tank which holds 2.3 liters. It gives you 35 miles per gallon when driven.

Look for this new Ford Escape Hybrid to be produced in the late summer of 2004. I like this car because it has two sources of power instead of just one. It also helps out the environment with the battery-powered engine.
